Weaving Workshop

Join Wiradjuri woman Dhani Gilbert for a relaxed and immersive weaving workshop held inside the Wildbark Learning Centre, nestled within Mulligans Flat Woodland Sanctuary.

As you learn traditional weaving techniques, Dhani will share stories and tales from the sanctuary, drawing inspiration from the critically endangered box-gum grassy woodlands just beyond the walls of Wildbark. This is a chance to slow down, listen, create, and connect to culture, to Country, and to place.

  • Saturday 11th April, 2026

  • 10:00am – 12:30pm

  • $45.00 per person (includes a non-alcoholic drink)

  • Wildbark (25 Rosenberg Street, Throsby, ACT)

No experience required. All materials provided.

Geoheritage Walks

Join local geoscientist, Megan Lech, on a guided Mulligans Flat Woodland Sanctuary geoheritage walk where she will take you on a 430-million-year journey - from warm tropical seas of the Canberra Formation, past violently explosive volcanoes of the Mount Ainslie Volcanics, to the present-day rolling hills and chain-of-ponds drainage system.

The walk is approximately 3.5 km over 2 and half hours, and showcases examples of local rocks, landforms and soils that offer geological clues of our region's buried past and the amazing stories it has to tell.

  • Sunday the 19th April and Sunday the 10th May

  • 10:00am – 12:30pm

  • $15.00 per person (includes a non-alcoholic drink)

  • Wildbark (25 Rosenberg Street, Throsby, ACT)

Little Scientist Australia
STEM Engineering Workshop

Swinging, running, jumping, falling. Children love to have fun with physical forces and to explore their effects. In this interactive workshop, we will delve into the impact of physical forces through leveraging, lifting, swinging, and moving and unleash our inner engineer.

Do you like to get creative or to immerse yourself in step-by-step instructions? Find out your engineering type – an analyst, experimenter, maker, or inventor — and, thinking about the different types of children in in your service, discover how to playfully integrate technical education into a nurturing learning environment.

In this hands on, interactive workshop, you will learn how to create rich STEM learning experiences in your service through the exciting topic of engineering and use it as a topic through which to teach the outcomes of the Early Years Learning Framework.

Paperbark Science Series

Dr Danielle Clode is an award-winning writer and zoologist whose many nonfiction books (including biography and children’s books) range across killer whales, fossils, French sailing voyages and bushfires. Her last book, Koala, won the Whitley Award for Popular Ecology. She lives on a bush block in the Adelaide Hills which she shares with at least one very rarely seen, but extremely industrious, echidna.

There are few animals more unusual than the echidna – a spiky, egg-laying mammal that eats ants. But some of the most striking things about echidnas are things most of us don't know. That they use their snout like a snorkel when they swim, that they can sense electromagnetic fields, that they have intriguingly complex brains, startling physical strength and 'backwards' back feet. That they go into torpor when conditions are poor and can survive fires by sheltering underground. And that during the mating season, male echidnas will line up behind a female, making cooing noises and forming an orderly echidna train, waiting for their chance to impress her with some very strange reproductive equipment!

Join Danielle Clode as shares the secrets of the enigmatic echidna on its eclectic path through the Australian landscape with the launch of her latest book on Australia’s most curious creature.

Limited Books will be available for purchase on the evening or as an add-on when purchasing your ticket.
